    InstructionsTravelling in avalanche terrain requires advanced knowledge, experience in route finding and ability to identify the avalanche problem. Generally, it is recommended to avoid avalanche terrain. Avalanches may hit some avalanche-exposed roads and occasionally settlements.

    From Saturday afternoon southwest gale force 8, increasing Saturday evening to strong gale force 9. Early Sunday decreasing to southwest near gale 7 or gale force 8.

    InstructionsDo not go out at sea in a small boat.

    ConsequencesLarge waves. High risk of dangerous situations when in a small boat at sea. High waves whose crests sometimes roll over. Airborne spray may reduce visibility.

  3. Applies to deler av Nordland og Troms

    Landslides are expected, some with considerable consequences. Large slides may reach settlements, roads and railways. Risk of slushflows is especially high in areas with more than 50 cm snow. The snow may in some places be fully water-saturated. Slushflows are triggered even in relatively gentle slopes, where water accumulates. Slushflows follow terrain depressions and may develop into debris flows. Rain is expected, followed by heavy showers in some places. Relatively high temperatures and windy conditions causes significant snowmelting.

    InstructionsKeep water paths and culverts free of snow, ice, gravel, waste, twigs and leaves. Clogged waterways with dammed water may cause landslides. Municipalities, Counties and other emergency operators should continuously evaluate the need for preparedness and prevention measures.

  4. Applies to Nordland og deler av Troms

    Water discharge is expected to increase because of rain and snowmelt. This may cause local inundation where river channels are filled with ice and because of frozen ground. It also may cause ice drift in streams, with subsequent local inundation. Local flooding and erosion damage. Large amounts of rain are expected in the warning area.

    InstructionsStay informed on the situation. Secure and/or move assets away from vulnerable areas (car, caravan along rivers/streams, basements). Cleaning of drainage paths and culverts is recommended. Keep away from rivers and streams with high flow.

    ConsequencesLocal flooding and/or erosional damage in streams and small rivers. Stormwater in urban areas.

  5. Applies to Saltfjellet, Salten, Lofoten, Ofoten and Vesteraalen and Troms

    From Sunday afternoon increasing southwest severe gale force 9 to occasionally storm force 10, with local strong gust 30-40 m/s. Strongest wind expected Sunday evening and early Monday morning. Decreasing wind early Monday morning.

    InstructionsSecure all loose objects. Avoid exposed places. Allow a lot of extra time for transportation and driving. Consider whether the journey is necessary. Follow advice and check status from transport operators. Check road reports (175.no). Be careful in coastal areas. In advance consider measures to limit damage.

    ConsequencesLarger loose items may be taken by the wind. Risk of damage to buildings and infrastructure. Cancelled departures for ferry, plane, or other transport expected. Bridges may be closed. Many journeys may have longer travel times. Blowing snow at higher altitudes causes reduced visibility and possibly convoys and/or closed roads. High waves may cause damage to infrastructure and buildings in the coastal zone. The strong wind may cause locally high waves in fjords and lakes.

The weather radar page has moved

We have changed the resolution of the radar images from 7,5 minutes to 5 minutes. This has resulted in a heavy load on our back-end systems, forcing us to shut down this page. You can still find the same map on our new website.
